Volunteering for Legal Status. Putting Asylum System Interpreters to Work in the Non-profit Sector

This article examines the manufacture of consent around unpaid employment in asylum-seeking population, based on an ethnographic survey volunteer interpreters a non-profit organisation that supports asylum seekers. While actors seek support and loyalty through implementation selective preferential recruitment process, latter find this privileged relationship ad hoc protection necessary for their financial administrative survival.
